Mannheim Alumni Reunion Committee
December 15, 2010
We are excited to announce that the Mannheim Alumni Association will be having a reunion in Charleston, South Carolina on September 7, 8 and 9, 2012. This reunion is especially for those who attended Mannheim between 1957 and 1966.
We are working with the beautiful Francis Marion Hotel in historic downtown Charleston to host the reunion. You can log on to www.francismarionhotel.com for information on this historic, elegant hotel. The room rate for those attending the Mannheim reunion is $149 per night. This is a very good rate for a hotel in historic downtown Charleston and we were only able to block a limited number of rooms at this rate, so reserve your room quickly. The hotel will be accepting reservations after February 15, 2011. We will send detailed information on how to make your hotel reservation prior to that date.
Charleston is a beautiful, historic city with lots to see and do. You can check Charleston out on the web at www.charlestoncvb.com. While exploring this web site, you might want to check out the many fine restaurants in Charleston.
Plan to arrive at the reunion on Friday, September 7. Come up to the Hospitality Suite as soon as you can and meet with other alumni as they arrive. We left Friday evening open on the agenda, but we will be happy to make a reservation for you at one of Charleston’s many fine restaurants. Please send an email to Mary Quigley at quigonisland@charter.net requesting a restaurant reservation for Friday, September 7. Please remember to specify which restaurant and the number of people in your party. Please include the names of Mannheim Alumni in your party.
We have arranged for an optional horse drawn carriage tour on Saturday morning. You’ll get to see many of the beautiful antebellum homes and historic sites in Charleston. Saturday afternoon is open so you will have the opportunity to return to the sites that are of most interest to you. An alternative would be to do a walking tour of historic Charleston.
Enjoy Charleston on Saturday afternoon, but be sure to be back at The Francis Marion in time for the Banquet and Dance that we have planned for Saturday evening. The DJ will bring many of the “oldies but goodies” with him so come to the banquet prepared to dance the night away with your old Mannheim friends.
We’ve had a fantastic Mannheim Bison Tee-shirts designed special for this reunion. Please place your order on the reservation form and we’ll have the Tee-shirt waiting for you when you arrive at The Francis Marion hotel.
The Mannheim Alumni Group does not have an alumni organization charter and cannot charge dues.
Planning this reunion without funds and being able to meet the guarantees required by the hotel and other vendors
is a challenge.
To meet this challenge, we are asking that you register for the reunion and pay your reunion fees now.
Your understanding of our situation is sincerely appreciated.
We sure do hope that you decide to join us for the reunion!
If you were invited to the reunion back in December and have not yet registered, you are asked to pay a $50 late fee. This late fee was necessary in order to encourage your early commitment so we could assess the interest and participation required to move forward with the reunion plans. Your understanding is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Your Reunion Committee
