Fellow Mannheimers:
It is with deep regret that I inform you all of a death of one our Mannheim family. “Uncle” Bud Yates Class of 78 was tragically taken from us way to soon on August 14, 2006 in Roswell, New Mexico.
Let us all keep his wife Brinda, and his family in our thoughts and prayers at this time and the times to come in the future.
The details of a memorial are in the link on this site, please take the time to write a note to Brinda, she knew his love for Mannheim, and will most certainly appreciate it.
As I sit here and reflect on these events I am compelled to write my encounter with Uncle Bud. I remember planning BISON BASH 2002 for St. Louis, I was so stressed, and the most comforting and great words of wisdom always came from Bud as at times I surely need a “shoulder to cry on” . I actually met him for the very first time at that very reunion, but as all Mannheimers know, I knew him my whole life, as that common point that unites us all together. I am grateful and happy that my time with Bud at that reunion took place. And I will hold it close to my heart.
I encourage you all to make that contact, makes no difference if it’s a Mannheim, whoever, just do it. As this event has proven, time is short, to short for many, as with our loss of Bud. He was taken way too soon, but the higher powers in this universe have there reasons, reasons we might not understand, but with time might.
This is to you “Uncle” Bud, we love you!! Rest in peace our dear friend, till we meet again.
